INFORMATION DATA SHEET: HARMONY CLASSIC COLLECTION SPC HYBRID VINYL FLOORING  (228MM X 6.5MM X 1540MM)

COMPLIANCE TESTING

Note that the Harmony Designer Collection SPC Hybrid Vinyl Flooring (228mm x 7mm x 1900mm) is constructed out of the exact same materials as the Harmony Classic Collection SPC Hybrid Vinyl Flooring (228mm x 6.5mm x 1540mm), however, its underlay backing is 0.5mm thicker. Hence in principle, it should perform on par if not better than the Harmony Classic Collection SPC Hybrid Vinyl Flooring (228mm x 6.5mm x 1540mm). Until actual testing for the Harmony Designer Collection SPC Hybrid Vinyl Flooring (228mm x 7mm x 1900mm) is carried out, these are the only reference test results available.

Harmony Timber Floors Pty Ltd engaged Palmer Acoustics Australia Pty Ltd to perform field impact insulation tests in Unit 35 Level 17 The Esplanade, 146 The Esplanade, Burleigh Heads, QLD, 4220. The tests were conducted on the Panel Island Sands colour 14/2mm sample installed on 5mm Blockout underlay via the Floating Method of Installation; on the Panel Beach House colour 14/2mm sample installed on 5mm Gold Class underlay via the Floating Method of Installation; and on the Panel SPC Classic Collection Hybrid Vinyl French Grey colour sample via the Floating Method of Installation in the Living Room of Unit 35 on Level 17. The measurements were conducted in the Living Room of Unit 33 on level 16, directly beneath the Living Room of Unit 35. Measurement Procedures

Testing was conducted in conformance with ISO 16283-2:2015 “Field measurement of impact sound insulation of floors”. The evaluation of the results, to derive the single figure L’nT,w rating, was conducted to ISO 717-2 2013 “Rating of insulation in buildings and of building elements – Part 2 Impact Sound Insulation”. Each floor was tapped in multiple different positions with the receiving space’s sound measurements averaged over 2 x 30 seconds periods – per test position. Ambient sound levels were measured before the testing with the results included in the assessment as per standard. Receiving room reverberation measurements were performed, utilising Norsonics Sound Analyser Nor140, at multiple locations throughout the space, with the results arithmetically averaged. 2.2 Instrumentation. (Extracted from Original Report conducted by Palmer Acoustics Australia Pty Ltd dated the 08 October 2020)

The following instruments were used in the evaluation. 

  • Norsonics Nor140 Sound Analyser (serial number 1403252)
  • Look Line tapping machine EM50 (serial number TM.14031)
  • B & K 4230 Calibrator #3 (serial number 1638750)

The sound level measuring equipment was field calibrated before and after each measurement session and was found to be within 0.2dB of the reference signal.  Criteria

Test Certificates detailing the 1/3 octave band results are provided in Appendix C to this report in terms of L’nT,w in accordance with ISO 717 – 2: 2013. The L’nT,w term is used in the Building Code of Australia (BCA), see also Appendix A. Conclusion

The Panel Island Sands colour 14/2mm sample installed on 5mm Blockout underlay via the Floating Method of Installation, the Panel Beach House colour 14/2mm sample installed on 5mm Gold Class underlay via the Floating Method of Installation, as well as the SPC Hybrid Vinyl French Grey colour sample installed via the Floating Method of Installation in the Living Room of Unit 35 on level 17, all achieved L’nT,w ≤ 56, which complies with the Body Corporate requirements (i.e. L’nT,w ≤ 56)(Parts extracted from Original Report conducted by Palmer Acoustics Australia Pty Ltd dated the 08 October 2020)

It is to be noted that the field test acoustic ratings provided in the report are indicative and are to be used for comparative purposes only. Acoustic ratings will vary and are dependent on a number of factors including the following:

  • Thickness of the concrete slab
  • Density of the concrete slab
  • Presence or absence of a ceiling cavity
  • Position of the concrete reinforcement
  • Presence and placement of structural walls
  • Room volume
  • Internal layout

Acoustic ratings will vary between buildings and between rooms. It is important to consult and acoustic engineer or industry professional in order to confirm that the selected product, conforms to the requirements laid out by the body corporate or the building’s acoustic requirements.
